About the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA)
The Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, FATCA for short, is a United States law established to prevent avoidance of American taxes by individuals with American tax liabilities who use bank accounts at financial institutions abroad (outside the US). Even Japanese financial institutions are obligated to abide by this law.
Due to this law, our company has a procedure by which we may confirm customer-related information or request certain documents in order to check whether or not a customer is required to report to American tax authorities as stipulated this law.
Your cooperation in this matter is appreciated.
